Manual We are developing an online Manual so that you may enjoy your RV to it's fullest. This is a work in progress and is subject to change at any given time. It is also a generic peace of work and is meant only as a general guide, it should not be taken as absolute fact. Each RV is distinct and individual in it's own right, do not take anything written here literally as it may or may not apply to the exact RV you will be using. Some information provided in these pages are only suggestions. Please read Your RV page as we have more helpful information.
Overhead vents are located in the galley and bathroom areas for fresh air circulation and exhausting heat, odors and water vapor. Roof vents include the crank-up vent/skylight, refrigerator vent, and plumbing vents. Most crank-ups fit into or over a 14" square opening this is the "nominal" size, the actual vent sizes vary slightly but are approximately 15 /12" square on the outside. Turn the crank in the center of the vent to open and adjust. Some vents may also be equipped with a 12-volt fan. A switch controls fan operation. Be sure to turn the fan OFF before closing the vent.
The vent may be cleaned from the top of the motor home. Use soapy water on the vent cover. The screens may be vacuumed or lightly brushed to remove accumulation of leaves or other debris. Lubricate the gears and mechanism yearly with a light, water resistant grease. The condition of roof vent covers should be checked annually, covers that have a dull lifeless look should be replaced, when this point is reached they are generally quite brittle. A cover in good condition usually has a shiny appearance.Plastic framed roof vents should be inspected carefully for cracks in the frame, both on the roof and from inside, with the inside trim ring removed. If any cracks are observed the vent should be replaced. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
